Currently, there is no out-of-box way to plug in headphones simultaneously with the use of the i-Microphone. A special Y adapter cable could be a solution for this. Theoretically, two 4-conductor TRRS 3.5mm jacks to one 4-conductor TRRS 3.5mm plug adapter could do the trick. Please note that adapters have not been tested by GOBIZ. Results are not guaranteed and will vary. I wish I had better news for you Shai.
separating the input from the recorder allows for much closer range of placement for the mic than if it is chained to the iPhone! (lapel or meeting table etc etc) – not to mention the obvious advantage of mobility of placement.
We agree that a wireless solution will come in handy for some of our users. At the moment, no R&D for a bluetooth microphone has started. Please subscribe to our blog under the “News & Events” section! If it becomes available, you’ll be one of the first to hear about it.
All microphone accessories (that is, without any built-in speakers) for the iPhone and other smartphones are for recording only. Thank you for your interest!
Welcome to the future people. Tech moves too fast, this idea along with a brilliant recording suite on mobile devices as they get more and more powerful will empower amateur recording like nothing else ever has. Thank you for doing this!
The i-Microphone is not made for calls. This is a common limitation to most in/out combo jacks found in smartphones; if you plug in a compatible mic, the phone’s speakers shut off automatically, so it will be impossible to record a phone conversation from both parties. On the other hand, the i-Microphone is best for turning your smartphone into a powerful recorder!
Hi, Gobiz Edutige EIM-001 seems to be a good solution for our hearing aid. Where is it available in Germany? Or can I order a test-unit directly from Gobiz?
Does the iMicrophone require a battery or is power supplied by the device it plugs into? Also, what sort of temperature ranges does it operate under/can it be stored at?
The i-Microphone does not require any battery or outside power source. Unfortunately, there are no specifications on optimal operating temperatures at this time.
I’ve seen that the frequency response of the i-microphone is 50-18kHz. I wonder, could you go up to 25-30 kHz with a lower sensitivity? Have you tested the microphone performance in the low ultrasonic range?
Very interesting question! No testing has been done with the i-Microphone and signals at ultrasonic range frequencies. According to the specs, it is not ideal for the user to capture signals at this range with the i-Microphone.
Do you know the best place to find a 4 conducter/pole (TRRS) extension cable for the iMicrophone? I wanted to attach this mic to a clip and use it as a lapel mic on the inside of a coat pocket for concealment. I should probably ask : Will a 4 pole ext. cable work with both an iphone and the iMicrophone?
The extension cable accessory will be launched early 2012 in the US market! This particular item has finally graduated its prototype phase and will be ready for purchase in the near future.
I just saw the great video review of the EIM-003 with the extension cable, but it looks like only the one available in the States is the 001 without the cable. Is the only way to get the 003 to buy it off eBay from Korea? How does the 001 compare to the 003 sound quality-wise? Any info you have would be very much appreciated.
Unfortunately, the EIM-003 is currently not available from any US retailer at the moment. The differences from 001 and 003 are very small. 003 is far less sensitive because it was engineered to work in very loud environments and applications; most consumers are using it to record musical instruments.
Fortunately, the extension cable you mentioned will be available in the US Spring 2012. Thanks to the included volume knob, users can record in loud environments with the EIM-001 without distortion and clipping!
Hello.
Can i use the i-microphone in a sony ericson xperia arc.
I will use to record music videos, live concerts. Is a good microphone for this activities.
Thanks and i hope your answer.
Hi Gobiz
Can i use the i-microphone in a Samsung Galaxy S2? Works with the integrated camera program?
I have seen photos with I-microphone and Galaxy Tab and Galaxy S, are they real?
I will use to record live concerts, for this use is better the 003 or 001?. Is a good microphone for this activities?
The buy is possible in Italy?
Thanks and i hope your answer. Stefano
The i-Microphone works extremely well with the Galaxy S, SII, and Tab(s). For live concert recording, the EIM-003 is a much better option since it was engineered for loud environments. Please check with the retailers on the top of this page for international shipping options!
Ok, but works with the integrated video camera program? I need to improve the audio in the videos registration, i don’t need to use it with the program ONLY for the audio registration.
Thanks.

Wow! This is great news – I’ve been going crazy trying to understand if I made a mistake chosing the S2, because there’s lots of buzz about the abbility to connect an external MIC to the IPhone 4s, and only Qs by users regarding that same abbility on the Galaxy. The fact that this device (looks awesome!) works on the S2 – is great news! (So, I must ask – You’re 100% sure that it works with the video recording?)

Hi,
can someone tell me when the EIM-001 or the EIM-003 will be (again) available in Germany? Is there a reseller in Germany?
Pretty nice post. I simply stumbled upon your weblog and wanted to mention that I have really loved surfing around your blog posts. After all I will be subscribing to your feed and I hope you write again very soon!
Because new phones are coming out faster than we can test, here is a helpful rule:
If your smartphone model can fully support a headphone w/ mic accessory, there is a very high probability that the i-Microphone will work for your device.

We do not recommend using the i-Microphone for two-way communication. The i-Microphone was developed for sound recording. All 4-conductor (TRRS) audio jacks cannot give you monitoring capabilities when a TRRS microphone is plugged in. Please consider the Boundary Microphone.
I just got a Samsung Galaxy S 4 G phone thru T-Mobile. I’m a voice over actor and I would like a way to record decent audtions thru my phone when I’m not around a studio. The auditions don’t need to be broadcast quality, but I would like then to be at least relatively good sounding auditions. I like the idea of your condenser mic. Do you think that would work with my phone?
